Everything You Need to Know About Elden Ring: Nightreign
FromSoftware is back with a bold new entry in the Elden Ring universe. Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone co-op survival roguelike, launches on May 30, 2025 across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Unlike its open-world predecessor, Nightreign shifts focus to three-player team-based gameplay, set in the war-torn realm of Limveld.
The game doesn’t require a copy of Elden Ring to play, and while cross-play is not supported, cross-generation support means PS4 and PS5 users can party up, as can Xbox One and Series X/S players.

A New Realm and Gameplay Structure
Set in a parallel world to Elden Ring, Nightreign transports players to Limveld, a once-glorious land now consumed by darkness. As one of eight preset heroes called Nightfarers, you must survive three in-game days of growing threats. Each run culminates in a final showdown against the fearsome Nightlord.
Adding a fresh layer of tension is the Night’s Tide — a mechanic that causes the map to gradually shrink, forcing players into increasingly tight and dangerous encounters.

Gameplay Overview
- Roguelike structure with escalating challenge
- Three-player co-op, with solo play also supported
- Eight pre-designed character classes, each with unique skills
- Unlockable skins and gear upgrades for customization
- Procedurally generated map layout and enemies
- Permanent progression system encourages repeat runs
Nightfarers: Meet the Playable Heroes
Nightreign doesn’t offer character creation. Instead, players pick from eight unique characters, each with distinct playstyles and ultimates. Here’s a breakdown:
- Raider – A brawler who wields heavy weapons and uses a skill to reduce incoming damage.
- Ironeye – A ranged archer with deadly precision, enemy-marking skills, and long-range awareness.
- Duchess – Quick and stealthy, relying on evasion and ambush tactics.
- Recluse – A dark spellcaster who wields cursed magic and blood chants.
- Wylder – A balanced fighter who uses a grappling claw and iron stake for versatile combat.
- Guardian – A tanky eagle-like warrior with strong defense and spinning shield attacks.
More character trailers are being rolled out by Bandai Namco to showcase each Nightfarer’s skillset in detail. Coordination between players will be key to overcoming Limveld’s increasingly brutal foes.
