VALORANT’s New Map ‘Corrode’ Drops June 25: Everything You Need to Know

Riot Games is set to introduce its 12th standard map, Corrode, with the arrival of patch 11.00 on June 25, 2025. First revealed during the VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025 grand final, Corrode brings a fresh, strategic-focused layout that avoids the usual utility-heavy chaos, offering a clean slate for players looking to master team-based fundamentals.

Tactical Design and Layout

Set in a medieval French castle town repurposed as a radianite salt mining facility, Corrode mixes classic architecture with gritty industrial machinery. The map is set on Omega Earth—a recurring alternate timeline in VALORANT lore—joining Pearl and Lotus as the third map based in that universe.

Here are Corrode’s key features:

  • 2 Spike Sites
  • 3-lane structure for dynamic team rotations and flanks
  • Layered defensive positions and vertical play areas
  • Reduced reliance on Agent utility, promoting pure gunplay and coordinated movement

According to VALORANT’s Lead Map Designer Joey Simas, the design team focused on curbing overwhelming ability usage. Structural elements across Corrode are designed to naturally block line-of-sight and force meaningful engagements rather than chaotic ability spam.

Visually, the map showcases striking terrain: evaporated waters have exposed vast salt flats, and radianite storms have left their mark on the architecture, with salt crystal formations defining the aesthetic. Daniel McGowan, Senior Art Director, notes that Corrode was built to illustrate how the First Light event drastically altered the environment of Omega Earth.

Launch and Competitive Integration

Unlike previous maps, Corrode will be available in VALORANT’s competitive rotation from day one. To ease the learning curve:

  • Losses on Corrode during Ranked will result in 50% fewer RR deductions for the first two weeks post-launch.
  • Wins will still grant full 100% RR gains.
  • A dedicated Swiftplay queue for Corrode will run from June 25 to June 30, helping players become familiar with the new layout without risking rank.

VALORANT Season 2025 // Act IV launches the same day, while the Phaseguard skin collection drops on June 26, expanding the game’s cosmetic offerings alongside this major update.

A “Modern Classic” in the Making

Corrode isn’t just another new battleground—it’s being positioned by Riot as a “modern classic” that reflects five years of iterative map design. By combining tight angles, long sightlines, and geometry that rewards movement and smart positioning, the map is expected to appeal to both competitive and casual players alike.

Debuted in a showmatch by content creators tarik and Disguised Toast at Masters Toronto, Corrode has already generated buzz in the community. Whether you’re a lurker, entry fragger, or IGL, Corrode offers a new canvas for strategic play in VALORANT’s ever-evolving map pool.
